10 destinations for 2008 to be announced at World Travel Market

world travel awards 2008In 2008 the World Travel Awards (WTA) will celebrate their 15th anniversary by embarking on a spectacular ‘Grand Tour’. The ‘travel Oscars’ will circumnavigate the globe to honour the excellence in the international travel and tourism industry.

The Grand Tour will build upon this year’s WTA programme that – for the first time in the accolade’s history – has covered the various country and regional level awards by recognising award winners in their own territory.

After an outstandingly successful kick-off in the Middle East (Abu Dhabi) and crowd-pulling events in the USA (New York), England (Newcastle) and India (Bangalore), the focus is now firmly fixed on the upcoming grand finale in the Turks & Caicos Islands on the 12th December – the Annual World Travel Awards Gala Ceremony where world winners will finally be crowned.

-This year has clearly been one of our busiest and most successful. The response to our regional-level honours scheme has been phenomenal, and we have undoubtedly generated a lot more excitement and interest. We have created better opportunities for our nominees and winners and can now recognize more products in the various niches of the tourism industry,” says Graham Cooke, President & Founder of the World Travel Awards.

– 2008 will be an even bigger year for us, as we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary with an unparalleled Grand Tour. We have now finalized our route and the ten selected destinations will be announced during World Travel Market.”

The World Travel Awards are globally sponsored by Amadeus, Turks & Caicos Islands and BBC World. Various regional level sponsors, including Asia Luxury Travel Market, One NorthEast, TravTalk and Emirates Palace, combine to create a potent marketing force.

– We are now in negotiations with further influential regional, national as well as global partners in the tourism industry who will play an active role in our 2008 World Travel Awards Grand Tour,” says Manon Han, WTA Vice President.

– Our Partners will receive unrivalled global exposure at all venues on the Grand Tour and can leverage this opportunity to drive and develop previously unrealised business opportunities.”

Full details of the 2008 World Travel Awards Grand Tour destinations can be obtained by visiting the WTA stand (South Gallery Rooms 31 and 32) at World Travel Market from 12th to 15th November at the Excel Arena, London.
