Airline travelers choose favorites in 14 categories

The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2011 Passenger Choice Awards. Results were tabulated from a survey that asked airline travelers to share their opinions on every aspect of their airline journey: overall passenger experience; inflight publication; inflight entertainment; connectivity; cabin ambiance and ground experience.

The Passenger Choice Awards winners are determined based solely on the votes of travelers – with the Nielsen Company, a global leader in consumer information and measurement, tracking the voting. The award program is entirely independent of any commercial influence, ensuring its neutrality and establishing it as a benchmark for excellence in the travel industry. The survey is growing in importance with air travelers as well, participation increased by more than 100 percent over 2010.

“The Passenger Choice Awards program was established to capture opinions and views from airline travelers about the many aspects that make up the overall airline passenger experience. APEX’s members, comprising most of the leading world airlines and suppliers to airlines, are focused on delivering and improving that experience,” said Patrick Brannelly, APEX president.

APEX is also pleased to announce the AVION Awards finalists for Best Achievement in Technology and Best Single Achievement in Passenger Experience. The AVION Awards are the travel industry awards for which nominees’ contributions to the passenger experience are judged by industry peers and thought leaders.

AVION and Passenger Choice Awards winners will be announced on Monday evening, 12 September, during the APEX 2011 EXPO being held 12-15 September at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. The EXPO is the industry’s premier trade event, attracting more than 70 top airlines from 37 countries. The awards event will be hosted by travel writer and editor, Peter Greenberg, who is the travel editor for CBS News, appears on The Early Show, and has written books and articles, as well as produced television programs, about travel.
