Delta Air Lines Makes It Easier to Fly to the Golf Masters in 2009

Delta Air Lines is making it easier for customers to stroll the links alongside some of the world’s best golfers during the 2009 Masters Tournament at the historic Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Between April 5 and 13, Delta will add more than 7,000 seats for travel between Augusta and its Atlanta hub, as well as daily service between Augusta and New York’s LaGuardia Airport and peak-day service between Augusta and New York-JFK.

The expanded service will be flown on a mix of Boeing 757 and CRJ900 aircraft – all with First and Economy class service – to allow customers to take advantage of onboard amenities including personal, in-seat video-on-demand and 18 channels of live satellite television on all flights operated with 757s. Flights also will be timed to enable convenient connections between Augusta and more than 200 worldwide destinations via Delta’s international hubs in Atlanta and New York

“When you talk about the Masters, no airline is better positioned to carry fans from around the world to this premier sporting event than Delta,” said Bob Cortelyou, Delta’s senior vice president — Network Planning. “Delta offers customers the most convenient year-round access to Augusta with more daily seats to and from Augusta Regional Airport than any other airline. And during the Masters, Delta is pleased to strengthen its commitment to Augusta with a 50 percent increase in seat capacity compared to last year.”

Additionally, customers in Augusta looking for an opportunity to vacation outside of their hometown while golf fans enjoy the city are invited to take advantage of special fares between Augusta and dozens of U.S. destinations. Special fares are available for purchase now at delta.com but must be ticketed by Jan. 30, 2009. Fares are based on a round-trip purchase and additional taxes/fees/restrictions/baggage charges may apply.

Delta Air Lines is the world’s largest airline. From its hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK, Salt Lake City and Tokyo-Narita, Delta, its Northwest subsidiary and Delta Connection carriers offer service to more than 376 destinations worldwide in 66 countries and serves more than 170 million passengers each year.
