Malaysia targets one million tourist arrivals from China this year

Malaysia targeted one million tourist arrivals fron China this year, said Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Victor Wee.

He said towards the end, promotion efforts were being intensified not only in the big cities in China but also smaller ones in view of the population size of China.

“China is a very big market for us, especially south China. Our minister (Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen) is very active in promoting Malaysia in China.

“We are also forging greater cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian airlines as well as tour agencies to increase tourist arrivals from China,” he told reporters after gracing the “090909” mass wedding ceremony here Wednesday night.

He added that though the world was facing an economic slowdown and the influenza A (H1N1) pandemic, Tourism Malaysia was optimistic of achieving the target.
