Philippine Airlines displays lowest 7-day online fares

Want to know the lowest fares available online for a seven-day period around your intended date of travel?

All you have to do is visit the newly enhanced websites of Philippine Airlines, philippineairlines.com and palexpressair.com.

Jaime J. Bautista, PAL president and COO, said both sites now feature a fully automated facility called “calendar pricing,” which immediately displays the lowest fare available over a seven-day range – three days before and three days after the planned travel date – thus allowing travelers to decide quickly when it is most convenient and cheapest to fly.

“This cuts online transactions significantly and makes it even more convenient for passengers to book and purchase PAL tickets online,” Bautista said.

The new facility became available on PAL’s websites last May 19, 2008. Both sites accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, utilize 3-D secure technology, and are secured by leading Internet encryption authority VeriSign.

Bautista said that PAL is the first and only Philippine carrier thus far to offer calendar pricing on web fares – another milestone in the airline’s history of pioneering electronic business solutions.

Almost exactly a year ago, on May 17, 2007, PAL completed the implementation of electronic ticketing for all flights throughout its network, becoming the first Philippine carrier to fully offer the customer-friendly service.

“That accomplishment came more than a year ahead of the extended deadline set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for the world’s airlines to adopt the system,” he said.

PAL launched e-ticketing on May 1, 2004 on flights between Manila and Cebu. The facility was expanded to its international flights five months later, on October 1, 2004.
