The Overland Park Marriott, a Hotel in Kansas City, Launches $20 Million Renovation

The Overland Park Marriott, known for its superior service and premier location in the Metcalf Avenue Corridor, announced today a $20 million hotel renovation. With the update of this hotel Kansas City will have a modern addition to its inventory of guest accommodations. The renovation will dramatically update the hotel’s exterior and create a more comfortable and accessible guest environment.

The Overland Park hotel renovation, which began last week and will conclude in September, will include all 398 guest rooms and suites, hotel corridors, concierge lounge, and 14,000 sq. ft of meeting space. The ballroom renovation will begin Aug. 5, 2008, and upon completion will offer a more elegant setting for a Kansas City wedding reception.

“We have been preparing for the renovation of this Marriott hotel in Kansas City for several months, and we are extremely excited to get started,” said Mark Ravenscraft, area general manager of Marriott Hotels in the Kansas City market. “These updates will dramatically improve the comfort, productivity, and quality of stay for every guest of the Overland Park Marriott, from business to leisure travelers.”

The rooms of the Kansas City KS hotel will debut the Marriott Revive bed and feature 37-inch, high-definition, flat-screen TVs, high-speed internet, and plug-in options for MP3 devices, digital cameras, camcorders or other electronic devices. In addition to the interior, the hotel’s exterior will also receive a dramatic facelift. Scaffolding will be erected around the Overland Park hotel this month and will remain around the hotel until early fall. Renovations will be made floor-by-floor for minimal guest disruption.

“The exterior updates will give the hotel a completely new look and feel, and will greatly contribute to the city’s overall revitalization and redevelopment of the Metcalf Avenue Corridor,” said Ravenscraft. “We are proud to be a long-time resident of this community, and we are equally excited to contribute to its continued growth and success.” Also adding to local resources, the renovation of the hotel’s 14,000 square feet of meeting rooms in Kansas City will prove attractive to group business in the area, while the forthcoming ballroom refurbishment will offer a lovely wedding venue.
