General Growth Properties, Inc. (GGP) owners and managers of America’s Premier Shopping Places, an award-winning collection of tourism-oriented shopping centers located throughout the USA, recently announced the formation of its first regional marketing alliance in Las Vegas consisting of Fashion Show, The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Shoppes at The Palazzo. All three centers are located in the heart of The Las Vegas Strip within The Venetian and The Palazzo Resorts and adjacent Wynn Las Vegas. Combined, these three centers offer nearly 350 retailers and 30 restaurants.

According to research by the Travel Industry Association of America, shopping and dining continue to be the top two activities of all travelers, domestic and international. In light of this data and the influx of over 40 million visitors arriving in Las Vegas annually, the three centers recognize the advantage of marketing themselves as a collective group to travel industry professionals and potential visitors from around the world.

Fashion Show, The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Shoppes at The Palazzo each offer a unique shopping and dining experience to travelers. Fashion Show is the largest retail destination in Las Vegas with six signature department stores, 200 specialty stores, its own runway where more than 1,000 fashion shows are held each year, and restaurants with dining overlooking The Strip. The Grand Canal Shoppes, famous for its signature canal and singing gondoliers, offers visitors a variety of upscale boutiques and gourmet restaurants by David Burke, Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck and more.

Las Vegas’ newest luxury shopping experience, The Shoppes at The Palazzo, draws luxury travelers accustomed to shopping Rodeo Drive and Park Avenue. It features the city’s most impressive offering of contemporary designer boutiques, including Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, Christian Louboutin, Michael Kors, Burberry and Nevada’s only Barneys New York. The Shoppes at The Palazzo also boasts new gourmet dining options presented by Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang Puck, Charlie Trotter and more.

With three distinct luxury retail centers on the Las Vegas Strip, GGP recognizes the advantage of combining resources and marketing funds to maximize tourism marketing messages, reach and frequency to a global audience. Promoting the properties and their Las Vegas destination under the established corporate brand of America’s Premier Shopping Places provides instant recognition by the travel industry. It allows “one-stop-shopping” for tour operators and travel agents seeking shopping and dining incentives, group programs or packages for their Las Vegas clientele. GGP travel and tourism specialists often attend trade shows and travel out-of-market with the Las Vegas Convention&Visitors Authority to promote the properties in international markets including Mexico, Canada, UK, Japan, and Brazil. GGP currently retains tourism sales representatives in Mexico City and the UK.
“General Growth Properties recognizes the increasingly important role shopping and dining play in today’s travel itineraries – both domestic and international,” stated Susan Houck, vice president of marketing for General Growth. “This esteemed collection of Premier Shopping Places provides group and leisure travelers with a highly memorable shopping and dining experience – even by Las Vegas standards. Our Premier Shopping Places combine the ultimate in luxury retail with the ultimate in celebrity chef dining and nightlife – at three different luxury retail Las Vegas Strip centers. ”
In late 2010, Las Vegas’ Premier Shopping Places and General Growth Properties will welcome a new partner to the alliance, High Street at Echelon, also located on The Strip and offering yet another unique luxury shopping and dining experience. In the meantime, GGP is finalizing the development of two additional regional tourism marketing alliances: Florida’s Premier Shopping Places representing Bayside Marketplace and Village of Merrick Park in Miami, along with Festival Bay Mall on International Drive in Orlando; and Texas’ Premier Shopping Places representing North Star Mall and The Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio, along with Galleria Dallas.
