Travel Guard Names Honeymoon Mishap Victim Third Semi-Finalist for “World’s Unluckiest Traveler”

A newlywed couple who had their honeymoon reduced to 24 hours without their luggage due to travel complications became the third monthly winner in Travel Guard’s (www.travelguard.com ) search for the “World’s Unluckiest TravelerSM.”

The bride, Diane R. of Coudersport, Pennsylvania, utilized her social media savvy on Facebook and Twitter to generate the most votes during the month of March, and will receive a Flip MinoHDTM camcorder for her efforts.

She is now eligible to win a grand prize $10,000 dream vacation, to be awarded in December, 2010. A randomly-selected participant who voted for Diane was also awarded a Flip MinoHDTM.

Following a Valentine’s Day wedding, Diane was set to leave with her new husband for their Texas honeymoon, but little did the newlyweds know they were in for a series of mishaps along the way.

The couple’s first flight was delayed due to de-icing of the plane; the first of several hiccups in their travel plans. Their second delayed flight was caused by complications with the plane’s door which caused Diane and her husband to miss the last flight to their final destination.

Thinking they were finally in the clear, they arrived in Texas only to realize their luggage had been lost and all they were left with were the clothes on their backs. After all was said and done, the not-so-happy couple had a mere 24 hours to enjoy their honeymoon.

Feeling cheated out of a romantic honeymoon vacation, Diane decided their story would surely make her a contender for the World’s Unluckiest Traveler.

Their story received the most votes for March in Travel Guard’s World’s Unluckiest Traveler search and Diane is now eligible to win a $10,000 dream vacation to take the honeymoon she and her husband originally missed.

Throughout 2010, Travel Guard will continue its search for the “World’s Unluckiest Traveler” – the traveler who has survived an incredible travail or outrageous adventure and has the story to prove it.

Each month, Travel Guard will award two Flip MinoHDTM camcorders – one to the entry that receives the most votes, and one to a randomly-selected person who voted for that winning entry.

At the end of the year, all of the monthly winners will vie for the grand prize in a final round of voting. The two most popular entries will each be awarded a $10,000 dream vacation.

Travelers can submit their entries by logging onto www.travelguard.com and uploading a video or photos and posting their unlucky tale for a shot at the title of World’s Unluckiest Traveler.
