2008 Gyeonggi International Travel Exhibition kicked off on Nov, 13 ,2008 for a four-day run at KINTEX in Ilsan, some 20 km north of Seoul.
Philippine Department of Tourism (DoT) has taken center stage at KINTEX with the spacious 10 booths showcasing diverse tourism attractions of the archipelago, notably its newly developed adventure tourism products geared up for venturesome young travelers as well as new list of tourism attractions featuring exciting yet exotic night life, shopping and exhibition and convention business to name just a few,
“These are only part of our ongoing efforts to fight back global business setback caused by financial market jitters worldwide,” said Ms Maricon Basco Ebron, tourism director and attaché at the Embassy of the Philippines in Seoul adding that notwithstanding global business slowdown.
The Philippines still remains on the top of the popular destinations for foreign tourists thanks to its improved tourism infrastructure and affordable prices for foreign visitors,
As usual, Korean visitors to the annual tourism show will be provided with upgraded service as to valuable and latest travel info about popular Philippine destinations to their satisfaction, she said.
The Philippine booth occupies a total of 90 square meters (10 booth spaces) which is strategically positioned near the entrance.
“Our booth will again become the center piece attraction of the Pavilion as the photo zone,” Ms.Ebron said.
To draw a big crowd at the Philippine Pavilion, DoT has sent a Filipino ethnic band composed of 16 members widely known as Kawayan
This bamboo orchestra is a unique ensemble of young, talented students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Manila will perform a wide variety of songs ranging from love song to lullaby, or popular dance hit with a distinct and unique musical style, she explained.
It is this unusual brand of music, coupled with imaginative and lively choreography that has won the hearts of its audiences not only in the Philippines but also other parts of the world.
They will be performing twice daily at the Philippine booth and at the Main Stage of the Exhibition Hall.
