Cebu Pacific - A low cost airlines in the Philippines will suspend all flights to and from Caticlan (Boracay) effective 09-Jul-2009, until further notice, following changes to airport operating conditions declared by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)
CAAP has designated Caticlan, for the time being, as a one-way airport for all carriers: takeoff should be towards the sea and landing in the opposite direction. A technical re-definition also in effect shortens the runway, despite its actual length.
“We have therefore decided to divert all Caticlan flights to Kalibo instead and from there bus all our Boracay-bound passengers at no extra cost,” said CEB President and CEO Lance Gokongwei.
CEB has been operating direct flights to Caticlan since February 29, 2008 and has since then carried over 340,000 passengers.
CEB mounted as many as 15 round-trip flights daily to Caticlan until June 25. More than 60,000 booked passengers will be affected by the cancellation. Read the full story

Cebu Pacific (CEB) now flies to Virac Catanduanes on a daily basis. The airline began its daily Manila-Virac service a week ago, adding three more flights to its previous four-times weekly schedule. It likewise increased its Manila-Naga flights to twice daily – from 10 times weekly.
“This is proof of our commitment to make Philippine travel affordable for everyone. CEB’s trademark low fares have allowed many travelers to travel by air for the first time. The public can expect CEB to continue offering the lowest possible fare in every destination it serves, even if CEB is the only airline serving that route.” Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for marketing and distribution, said.
The airline, which has been providing a viable transport alternative to ferries and buses, will also boost its Cebu-General Santos service with an additional Saturday flight.
Last June 12, the leading domestic airline offered a P111 all-in “Go Lite” fare for all of its domestic services in celebration of the 111th anniversary of Philippine independence. The one-day seat sale was available on June 12 only and is valid for travel from November 1 to 30, 2009. Read the full story
