Communications solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris: ALU) (NYSE: ALU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) and managed properties company Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, LLC have partnered to provide advanced technology that will enhance the way guests access the world inside the hotel and beyond.
According to the company, the new communications network uses a range of Alcatel-Lucent technologies including IP telephony, Wi-Fi, LAN switching, contact centres, and data security. Based on this solution, guests will benefit from a range of features, including bedside video phone intercoms that will let guests see who is at the door. In addition, interactive in-room LCD displays will allow them to view a menu of hotel services, including room service, and place orders through a phone call or digital interaction, while IP television will provide access to a wide range of entertainment options that can be downloaded to the in-room flat panel television or to the viewer’s laptop.
The new network is expected to optimize operations and improve efficiencies and services for Hampshire Hotels. The wireless network and automated notification system provide hotel operations with geo-location capabilities to select the most appropriate employee to handle guest requests. Centralized systems management and complete control of telecomms will provide consolidated reservations, sales and marketing, accounting and technology services through an interface to remote property management systems, while additional application programming interfaces (APIs) will integrate energy management systems for automated lighting and temperature control, the company said.
Pinnacle Communications, an Alcatel-Lucent business partner, provided voice, video, and data infrastructure involving a wide range of Alcatel-Lucent products, including the OmniPCX Enterprise, OmniAccess WLAN, OmniSwitch, OmniTouch My Teamwork, and phones, contact centres, and CrystalSec security.
