Currently, local carriers Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific are plying the existing routes between Manila airport and several airports in Japan. The increased entitlements, which both negotiating panels have agreed to, will open up more opportunities for Japanese and Philippine commercial airlines to serve existing or stir new demand.

This recent air deal is the eighth that the Philippines has concluded for the year. Cebu Pacific to Start Flights to Japan

Japan has agreed to allow Cebu Pacific Air of the Philippines to launch flight services to Japan, the transport ministry said Friday.

It will be the third low-cost airline to start flights to Japan, after Australian Jetstar Airways and Hong Kong Express Airways. The move is expected to intensify severe price competition at a time when the economy is deteriorating.

From Nov. 20, Cebu Pacific will start operating round-trip flights three times a week between Kansai International Airport in Osaka Prefecture and Manila International Airport with 150- to 180-seat medium-sized airplanes.

The airline previously planned to launch flights to Japan in July but postponed the start of the service mainly due to surging fuel costs.

Cebu Pacific owns 20 airplanes and operates 20 routes to China and Southeast Asian countries from Manila and Cebu.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo launches Oriental Wisdom Treatment

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo is now offering a new proprietary half-day wellness programme titled ‘Oriental Wisdom’ which is available to hotel guests and day visitors alike. Bringing together an array of distinctive Asian treatments, the programme reflects Mandarin Oriental’s spa philosophy of merging ancient life-enhancing traditions and techniques from many cultures into potent therapies for optimal wellness in today’s busy world. Guests will also receive guidance for continuing some of the practices at home and incorporating them into daily life.

The four-hour, half-day wellness programme begins with a Personal Wellness Consultation to determine individual needs, and combines breathing techniques and meditation to enhance overall well-being by restoring equilibrium, detoxifying and balancing the body’s natural ‘chi’ or energy flow. After a Tibetan gong is struck to purify the space, a Welcome Ritual ensues whereby guests select one of four moonlight-cleansed power stones (amethyst, crystal, tiger’s eye and rose quartz) while also experiencing a soothing foot bath to balance and re-energise.

This is followed by the Breathing Ritual — using breathing techniques and the power of aroma to assist in tuning out the external world and reconnecting with the inner self, as well as preparing the body for the subsequent exercises and treatment. Continue Reading
