Royal Plantation Island provides private island retreat in the Exumas, Bahamas

Tucked away in the quiet center of the Exumas chain of islands in the Bahamas is the largely untouched, 50-acre Royal Plantation Island at Fowl Cay. A classic favorite for boating, diving and fishing, the island maintains the strict Royal Plantation Collection standards of excellence in a uniquely remote destination.

The spectrum of blue surrounding Royal Plantation Island is breathtaking. Turquoise, cerulean and ice-blue are some of the descriptions that fall short of effectively describing the waters of this spectacular destination.

In 2007, each of the six private one-, two- and three-bedroom villas at Royal Plantation Island were renovated and outfitted with casually elegant furnishings to complement the natural surroundings.

Royal Plantation Island at Fowl CayThe barefoot chic décor of each villa features hand-selected art, elegant furnishings and luxury linens.

All villas are equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, modern electronics, Molton Brown amenities and a dedicated golf cart, beach-cruiser, bicycles and motorboat to explore neighboring beaches and cays.

The villa collection at Royal Plantation Island includes: the two-bedroom Birdcage; three-bedroom Bluemoon; three-bedroom Sweetwater; identical two-bedroom Starlight and Seabreeze; and the one-bedroom Lindon villa. For the utmost secluded getaway, the island can be rented in its entirety, and sleeps up to 30 people in total.

“Royal Plantation Island is one of the most pristine locations in the Bahamas that is still easily accessible for travelers from the US,” says Steve Huggins, General Manager of Royal Plantation Island, referring to the two-hour long flights from Ft. Lauderdale to neighboring Staniel Cay. “The island’s crystal clear waters and overall charm is truly magnetic; it’s no wonder why travelers seeking the true private island experience plan their escape here.” Continue Reading

The programs consist of rehabilitation, consolidation and road shows, which will be conducted until October, she said.

“But in October onward we hope that we will be busy again. We expect the ITTF could bring buyers from foreign countries. We hope that government will sponsor this event because that time would be the last chance to get many tourists this year,” said Yanti. Continue Reading

Mainland China tourists to Taiwan expected to reach 600,000

The Chinese mainland and Taiwan expected cross-Strait tourism to attract at least 600,000 mainland tourists this year, Monday’s China Daily reported.

The ambitious target comes one year after the island was opened up to mainland tourists.

About 383,300 mainland tourists visited the island in the past year, according to the Cross-Straits Tourism Association (CSTA) in Beijing.

Both sides want to grow the figure to at least 600,000 this year.

taiwan beachDuring a round table conference in Beijing on Saturday, CSTA President Shao Qiwei and Taiwan Strait Tourism Association (TSTA) Chairwoman Janice Lai declared the past year’s achievement “a good start”.

TSTA statistics suggested that 85 percent of mainland tourists were satisfied with their trips to Taiwan.

Fewer than 10 percent were not satisfied with the tight schedules and long hours on the road.

In the peak season of March and April, mainland tourists flock to the same scenic spots and restaurants at the same time, resulting in lower service standards. Continue Reading

Grado, the island queen of hospitality: Albergo Diffuso Project

The Albergo Diffuso is actually sustainable tourism’s “third way”, a form of hospitality in which Italy is a pioneer and in which the Italian regions most attentive to the environment and niche demand are showing great interest. A new form of tourist hospitality that brings into play the local public administration and residents. Albergo Diffuso hospitality offers Grado’s guests the opportunity of being for a few days a fully-fledged honorary citizen of the Lagoon of Grado.

Grado is a little gem chosen for the beauty of its architecture and surrounding environment, where life still follows the pace and traditions of yesteryear. An Albergo Diffuso plays an instrumental role in saving major heritages (environments, buildings and connected systems) which bring about an improvement in the quality of life and the product in the short and long terms while also offering a new source of income, especially for the private residents involved.

The Grado Lagoon is an area of outstanding natural beauty, a rich environment of magic and tranquillity. The lagoon has many qualities, as many as the memorable sensations it evokes. The ruins of times gone by blend into the landscape as a testament to a past built on great works and hard struggle; they speak to people of today, encouraging them to continue along their chosen path to enable Grado and its lagoon to establish itself as the destination of choice of another slice of international tourism.
