Since its launch in 1987, Condé Nast Traveler has been committed to the philosophy of “Truth in Travel” in its journalism. The magazine has been nominated for 25 National Magazine Awards, and has won six awards in various categories, including Special Interest, Design, Photography, and General Excellence.

Klara Glowczewska was appointed editor in chief of Condé Nast Traveler in January 2005. An editor at the magazine since its 1987 inception, she had been the executive editor, a position she held from 1992. Several of the articles Glowczewska has edited over the years were nominated for National Magazine Awards, including two for best Essays & Criticism—the first time a travel magazine had ever been nominated in that category.

Luc Sante is the author of several novels including Low Life, The Factory of Facts, and Kill All Your Darlings. Sante received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1992–93, a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1997, and an Infinity Award for writing from the International Center of Photography in 2010. He is a frequent contributor to The New York Review of Books, and teaches writing and the history of photography at Bard College.
