Greektown Casino Hotel located in Detroit is now training 170 new full-time and part-time employees who will staff the casino’s International Buffet, which is scheduled to open December 22, 2008. The Casino Hotel is also in need of 150 more employees to complete the staff of Greektown Casino Hotel while will be fully operational in February of 2008. In the near future, the 400-room Casino Hotel is adding 400 new workers.
“The opening of the International Buffet and hotel are just around the corner, and training is now underway so our new team members will be able to provide the superior guest service the casino has been known for since opening in November 2000,” said Wayne Merritt, General Manager of Hotel Operations, Greektown Casino-Hotel.
Following orientation, Greektown Casino Hotel’s newest employees will complete four days of service training conducted by hospitality consulting firm Signature Hospitality. After completing the initial training, employees will be assigned to a department and receive additional training specific to their position.
Merritt said Greektown Casino-Hotel is still hiring new employees for the hotel in catering/ banquet services, housekeeping/environmental services, restaurant management, engineering/facilities, food and beverage, security and safety, purchasing, sales and more.
“We have many of the permanent casino positions already staffed, but we are still looking to fill about 150 additional positions,” Merritt said. “Our goal is to have the entire hotel staff hired by mid-January so we can complete proper training and be ready to open in February.”
