TravelGuide.TV‘s subdomain, travelguide.tv/newyork, has come on stream with a simple approach to New York travel guide info. The format of nine key vids on tourism topics gives a whole new flavour to New York information for visitors.
Travel Guide New York has videos on the topics tourists look for like New York Museums, Restaurants, Introduction to the City, Attractions, New York Nightlife plus the important areas of Transport, New York Shopping, Hotels and New York City Tours.
In all, 25 city destinations are in the first phase of TravelGuide.TV followed by a further 25 cities planned by the end of 2008. A key feature of the website is its zippy directness – you go to the city you want, select your topic and play the video. This click and play approach gives a whole new meaning to online travel guides and with the high quality travel videos and soothing informative narration, it all makes for easy viewing. The videos create a real feel for New York City. For instance try out the New York Nightlife video and experience the startlingly colourful neon lights and the after dark buzz.
The www.travelguide.tv/newyork website also eases the way to planning a New York City vacation, whether you plan to spend a week in the city or are just going for a New York weekend, you’ll find all the reservation tools you need – tours, accommodation, car rental, etc. There is also the Syndication area and any website can embed these tourist videos – without charge. This facility is being used by a range of travel providers, hotels, tour operators and travel sites.
TravelGuide.TV was recently launched and gives a new jazz to online travel guides – the text is still there but the easily accessible tourism videos signal a new generation of online tourist guides. Stephen O’Shaughnessy the Irishman behind the venture claims “with the success of the dot TV domain names and the growth in video content, the TravelGuide.TV project is the future”. Asked about New York he said “New York just had to be one of our first cities – the Big Apple is such a tourist magnet. You casually say ‘Millions of tourists go to New York’ but in fact in 2007 the number of visitors to New York City was 46 million. Of that nearly nine million come from outside the States with over a million visitors from the UK”.
