Boracay Island prepares for Russian tourists
Tourism front-line workers are taking crash courses in Russian to prepare for the entry of Russian tourists to Boracay Island, an online news site reported.
The News Today reported that Russian Embassy officers and staff were brought in to teach tourism workers Russian language and cuisine.
It said the Boracay Foundation Inc. (BFI) has been holding the seminars since July for the expected surge of Russian visitors availing of a 21-day visa privilege.
BFI has been closely working with the Russian consulate in holding the series of seminars.

Traditional Chinese medical therapy adds to Austrian hotel’s popularity
Larimar, a four-star spa hotel sitting atop a small hill in the southern Austrian town of Stegerbach, has been very popular since it started operation more than one year ago.
The hotel does not owe its success to luxury, neither comfort, nor competitive prices, for it can hardly compete with nearby rival five-star hotels, villa spa hotels or the cheaper public spahotels in these regards.
Yet, Larimar has managed to achieve almost daily full booking since September. Its secret, said manager Johann Haberl, lies in introducing traditional Chinese medical therapy to its services.
The hotel invited two kungfu (an ancient Chinese fighting art) masters from China to teach the guests Qigong (a system of deep breathing exercises) and Taiji boxing and perform traditional Chinese medical massage.

Cebu Pacific beats other budget carriers to key North Asia markets
In the next two weeks, budget carrier Cebu Pacific will already have three major North Asian destinations in its roster, topping all low-cost airlines in Southeast Asia.
Cebu Pacific will start flying to Osaka, Japan on November 20, in addition to its regular flights to and from Canton, Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai in China, and to and from Incheon and Pusan in South, Korea.
“No other ASEAN budget airline to date services all three countries except Cebu Pacific,” said Candice Iyog, company vice president for marketing and distribution.
Iyog said the Philippines’ strategic location in the region allows Cebu Pacific to offer low fares on flights to and from North Asia while keeping operational expenses manageable.

Cebu Pacific offers zero fare for Clark hub, Manila - Osaka Flights
Low-fare airline of the Gokongwei’s, Cebu Pacific (CEB) is offering its trademark zero fare for its Manila-Osaka (Japan) and Clark to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore flights.
The zero-fare seat sale will run from Oct. 29-Nov. 7, 2008 and is valid for travel from Dec. 1, 2008-Jan. 31, 2009.
Passengers will just pay for fuel and insurance surcharge ranging from US$ 45 to US$ 110 per way.
Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for marketing and distribution, said, “We want to encourage passengers from Central and Northern Luzon to experience traveling to our neighboring Asian countries this holiday season.”
She added, “We also hope to bring in foreign tourists to the wonderful attractions in Subic, Clark, Baguio, Benguet and the Ilocos region.”

Miss Earth 2008 beauties campaign to vote “Underground River” in wonders search
Candidates of Miss Earth who visited here over the weekend are embarking on a campaign to support and vote for the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP) as one of the wonders of the world.
The PPNSRNP, home of the longest navigable subterranean river, has remained solid in the No. 1 spot for five consecutive weeks since Sept. 22 in the ongoing search for the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
