Atlantic Ocean Comedy and Music Festival 2014

Comedy and culture network Maximum Fun is launching the Second Annual Atlantic Ocean Comedy & Music Festival themed cruise. After the success of the sold-out 2013 inaugural cruise, Maximum Fun will be expanding the 2014 cruise to include new performers, exclusive attendee activities, and an upgraded vessel. Tickets are currently on sale at www.boatparty.biz.

The Festival includes two nights of comedy and one of music, along with a shuffleboard tournament, private parties and various other high-seas shenanigans offered exclusively to Atlantic Ocean Comedy & Music Festival (aka Boat Party) attendees aboard the ship. Boat Party attendees will also be treated to private dining areas and highly-coveted Boat Party name tags.

The event begins with a kick-off party in Port Canaveral on July 24, 2014; the ship departs for the Bahamas on July 25, and returns to port on July 28. Entertainment has been selected by Jesse Thorn, host of NPR’s “Bullseye,” a culture recommendation and interview show heard on public radio stations across the country.

“Last year’s festival contained truly off-the-charts amounts of fun, but we had one concern. It was like a groundbreaking scientific study: it demanded replication,” said Thorn. “This year, we’re giving people another chance to mingle with and enjoy performances from hand-picked comedy and music stars. If all goes well, we’ll have conclusive proof that BoatParty.biz is the most fun you can have in the span of four days. Then we’ll submit it to the New England Journal of Medicine and collect our Nobel Prizes.”

Comedy performers include W. Kamau Bell (FX’s “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell”), Natasha Leggero (E!’s “Burning Love” & “Chelsea Lately”), Morgan Murphy (NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”), Kyle Kinane (“The Comedy Garage”), and Moshe Kasher (“Laugh Trek”, “Chelsea Lately”), Greg Behrendt (co-author “He’s Just Not That Into You”), Chris Fairbanks (FUEL TV’s “The Daily Habit”) and Karen Kilgariff (“The Girls Guitar Club”), among others.

Attendees will also hear musical performances from Jean Grae and John Roderick (The Long Winters), with more to be announced.

Here’s what some of last year’s Boat Partiers had to say about the first Atlantic Ocean Comedy & Music Festival:

“I started writing a list of the comedians I loved, then realized there wasn’t anyone who wasn’t on it.”

“The intimacy of the setting was really special. I came away feeling refreshed artistically. And a little hungover.”

“I was very, very anti-cruise beforehand, [but the] Boat Party was one of the greatest things I’ve ever done.”

Upon reaching international waters, shit is expected to get crazy.
