The most celebrated national hunt horse racing event in the world, Cheltenham will take place between 13th-16th March and the first day of this festival is called Champion Day. There are seven races each day. These are the Grade 1 races, Champion Day, Ladies’ Day (16th March), St Patrick’s Day (15th March) and Gold Cup Day (16th March). Buveur D’ Air who won in 2017 is the featured race of the day. He’s also fighting for his crown this 2018 against past winner Faugheen. Champion Hurdle Day is an exciting event that’s anticipated by many.

The program will kick off with Supreme Novices Hurdle. This year, people have their eyes set on Annamix who is trained by Willie Mullins. Annamix have positive reviews and expected to have a future in national hunt racing. Following is the Arkle and the expected race favourite is Finian’s Oscar. Also expected to fight alongside the Queen Mother Champion Chase this 2018 are last year’s winner, Altior with his jockey, Nico De Boinville.

It was a successful event for trainer, Gordon Elliott who was successful in the Mares’ Hurdle and National Hunt Chase which makes his wins all-in-all three. For the last event of Champion Day, Tully East won the Handicap Chase.
