The historic landmark Manila Hotel is the most preferred “deluxe” hotel in the metropolis by foreign and local tourists, according to a survey conducted by the Philippine Department of Tourism (DoT), headed by Secretary Joseph Ace Durano.
According to a DoT survey of hotel occupancy rates and length of stay of guests, the Manila Hotel ranked first among the 18 deluxe hotels in Metro Manila with 91 percent occupancy rates last December, 2007.
The figure, however, was 4 percent lower compared to the same period in 2006 when Manila Hotel posted a 95-percent occupancy rating.
The hotel’s rating topped other deluxe hotels during the same year.
“The average length of stay of deluxe hotel guests was 3.57 percent longer to 2.61 nights from the 2.52 nights average length of stay recorded in the same period in 2006,” the survey said.
Data from the DoT showed that there were fewer guests in most of the deluxe hotels last year despite the influx of foreign tourists entering the country in December, 2007, compared to the same month in 2006.
