AirAsia launches $1 flights between Singapore and Phuket

AirAsia is preparing to launch direct flights between Singapore and the Thai island paradise of Phuket from 5 November this year. The route will be served by Thai AirAsia, a member of the AirAsia Group.

Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia, said, “With the opening of the Singapore-Phuket route, AirAsia expands its presence in Singapore. We expect the route to perform strongly, given that the Singaporeans are fond of traveling to holiday spots overseas. Phuket is among the world’s most beautiful islands and most popular getaways. Tourism continues to grow there.”

Once the Singapore-Phuket route is opened, AirAsia will have five daily flights serving Singapore – four on the Singapore-Bangkok route and one on the Singapore-Phuket route.

To make the Singapore-Phuket route more attractive to Singaporeans, AirAsia has launched a promotional airfare starting from Sin$1. Travellers must book their seats before 31 October, 2007 and fly between 5 November, 2007 and 29 March, 2008. Up to 5,000 seats are available for the promotion. The Sin$1 airfare excludes fuel surcharge, taxes and applicable fees.
