Cebu Pacific to Order More Airbus Aircraft soon

Cebu Pacific has increased its outstanding A320 orders to 15, with a new firm order for five aircraft.

Scheduled for delivery from 2013, the new aircraft will join an existing A319 and A320 fleet flying on the low cost carrier’s extensive domestic and regional route network. The initial batch of 10 aircraft is scheduled for delivery between 2010 and 2013.

“The A320 Family has played a key role in enabling us to offer a high quality, value-based product,” said Lance Gokongwei, President and CEO of Cebu Pacific. “Our latest order will make it possible for us to maintain our expected growth pattern over the coming years. It will also help us to continue our network expansion to reach more destinations across the region.”

Manila-based Cebu Pacific is one of the leading low cost carriers in Asia, flying to 46 domestic and international destinations. Altogether, the carrier has now placed firm orders for 27 A320 Family aircraft, with 12 already delivered. The carrier currently operates 21 aircraft from the family, including nine leased aircraft, with an average age for the fleet of just 1.9 years.

Cebu Pacific reports rise in 2008 passenger load

Philippine budget airline Cebu Pacific on Saturday said it flew 6.7 million passengers in 2008, representing a 23 percent annual growth despite impacts of high fuel prices and the global economic turmoil in the second half of the year.

In a press release, the 13-year-old airline company attributed the passenger load growth to the increase in its seat capacity coupled with “trademark low fares”.

“The 2008 challenged us to look for ways to stimulate travel and sustain our domestic and international operations. And we were able to successfully convince more Filipinos to travel by air despite economic uncertainties,” Lance Gokongwei, the company’s president said.

He said domestic passengers grew 20.7 percent to 5.38 million in 2008, while international passengers rose by 33 percent to 1.4 million. But the company has not yet released the figures of turnover and profits last year. Read the full story

Cebu Pacific offers discounts for new domestic destinations

Travel and fly Cebu Pacific!

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the country’s leading domestic airline, is offering a Php500 all-in ‘Go Lite’ fare for flights from Cebu to Cotabato, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Legaspi, Ozamiz, Siargao and Tacloban. The seat sale is from December 17-19, 2008 and is good for travel from January 1-March 18, 2009.

This marks the opening of CEB’s new destinations from Cebu to Cotabato, Dumaguete, Legaspi and Siargao and the mounting of additional frequencies from Cebu to Iloilo, Ozamiz and Tacloban. On January 10, 2009, it will be the start of the new thrice weekly flights from Cebu to Cotabato and the four-times weekly Cebu-Legaspi service.

On the other hand, the thrice weekly Cebu-Dumaguete service starts on January 12, 2009 while the Cebu-Siargao thrice-weekly service will start on January 30, 2009.

Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for marketing and distribution, said “As we continue to take delivery of brand new ATR 72-500 aircraft, we will operate new inter-island routes and add frequencies to existing ones to encourage local trade and tourism. Coupled with our trademark low fares, we hope to stimulate travel despite market conditions.” Read the full story
